History of the Anchor Inn Bed & Breakfast – New Smyrna Beach
We’re located in New Smyrna Beach, Florida’s Historic District — As for the history of our house, we will let her speak for herself.
Welcome! I am a real Florida Cracker; let me tell you my story. I have known many people and endured the changes of time. I remember the railroad men of the 1920’s – rambling gambling men who frequented the casinos at Coronado beach. I can recall the hurricane of ’26 that took the gaming house into the sea. I will never forget the blackout nights of WWII, when I would sit in the silent darkness, hiding from the enemy ships that were off our coast. There were happier times as well – there was one time when a wedding was held here in my living room!
In 2001, my new owners gave this old girl a face lift, and four loving families have resided here since then to host the many wonderful guests visiting from all over the world. I am renewed, artfully decorated, and anxious to provide a warm and fun-filled atmosphere for all who visit me.
